Announcing the Winners of our Superintendent’s Summer Reading Challenge!
On August 21, Dr. Leslie Torres-Rodriguez announced the winners of our Summer Superintendent’s Reading Challenge. Fourteen lucky students will be receiving tablets for their participation, and one contest participant took home a solar powered book bag stuffed with school supplies.
On Friday afternoon, August 21, 4 elementary students and 4 middle/high school students met with Dr. Torres-Rodriguez for a read-aloud event with Dr. Torres-Rodriguez and the announcement of our Superintendent’s Reading Challenge winners! On July 31, Superintendent Dr. Leslie Torres-Rodriguez celebrated our Summer Reading Challenge readers, weekly winners, their schools, our partners, AND read aloud the English and Spanish book, Call Me Tree by Maya Christina Gonzalez! About the Reading Challenge:
Who: PreK-12 students
What: Superintendent’s Reading Challenge: read 20 minutes 5 times a week
Why: Celebrate and have fun growing your reading skills over the summer! PreK-12 students are encouraged to share the books they are reading and submit their minutes to Hartford Public Schools to be recognized for all their accomplishments.
