Return to Learn Health and Safety Plans for 2021-2022 School Year
As of June 16, 2021, we have updated our Return-to-Learn Plan to reflect the most recent policies and procedures in place to ensure the safety of everyone in our buildings. This plan provides detailed guidance that ensures the health and safety of all our students, staff, and visitors.
Along with current state guidance and external health metrics, we are seeking your feedback to further inform the design of our Health and Safety plans for next year. We will seek your feedback on our plans every six months moving forward as part of the American Rescue Plan and ESSER II federal relief funding requirements.
THE FIRST DAY OF THE 2021-2022 SCHOOL YEAR IS MONDAY, AUGUST 30, 2021.
The most updated version of our Return-to-Learn Plan is located here. Please review the plan and then share your feedback, suggestions, or questions with us.

What is Distance Learning?
With this option, students attend classes from home on a regular school schedule for at least four hours per day. Instruction is delivered by certified staff at their school. There will be some synchronous instruction in every content area, which means students learn from teachers in real time through video conferencing platforms like Google Meet. Social-emotional learning will be provided by social workers, school counselors and teams.
How will HPS support all families?
All staff are expected to communicate with students and families in their classes on a frequent basis. This communication will include a blend of emails, phone calls, and Google Classroom. In addition to individualized communications, staff are expected to keep “office hours” so that students and families can contact them directly. The timing of office hours will be communicated to families through Google Classroom. Below we have provided information regarding how to access this online platform. As this is a new way of engaging students, we look forward to working in partnership to support you and your child in their learning.
Student Device Information
Can my child use another device besides a computer?
Yes, your child can access their online classes through any internet enabled device. A desktop, laptop, iPad/tablet, or even a smart phone, will work.
Can my child use the device we received from the district?
Families who received district laptops during the spring or who have been using a personal device for at-home learning should continue to use those devices. If the device you received from HPS is damaged, requires repairs or replacement, or if you need support with a specific application, please complete click here.
What if I don’t have a device?
For students who do not have a device at home, or families who need more than one device to make sure all their children have access, please click here.
Is there tech support?
Each school is equipped with a device staging area to provide support with device distribution, repairs, and replacements in school. If you need additional support with your device or if you require support with obtaining internet access, please contact your school directly.
