S.A.N.D. School Students Explore Careers during Visits to City Hall and Public Safety Complex

4th and 5th graders from S.A.N.D. Elementary school met with Councilman Joel Cruz and other department heads (COO, Acting Director of Finance, and the Director of HR) at Hartford's City Hall to hear about career paths and the functions and purpose of City Hall.

It was a wonderful opportunity to peak the interest of students and get their minds turning for college and career options after high school.  Some may think its too early to start this conversation and to begin hands-on career exploration but it's never too early.  The sooner the better!

Coucilman Cruz commented, "For our kids to hear and witness that many of us working at city hall attended the same schools they're attending provided them inspiration and motivation to thrive."

The students had many questions at each site and it was enlightening to see our future in action.  The trip concluded with a tour of the Public Safety Complex.

Thank you to Councilman Cruz, Dr. Marroquin and department directors from City Hall as well as Police & Fire personnel who took the time to further drive home the message of College & Career options, share their own personal stories, and allow for Q and A sessions with our students.  It truly takes a village!!
