SMSA Capstone Project Featured in “The Hartford News”

The Hartford News highlighted this year’s Roberto Clemente Commemoration Committee from the Sport and Medical Sciences Academy (SMSA), led by Mr. Mercado, and students Javier Custodio, Gabe Custodio, Michael Infante, and Dolan Cassone.  The SMSA students (pictured above SMSA Students l to r, Javier Custodio,
Gabriel Custodio, and Michael Infante, (Missing: Dolan Cassone)) and Mr. Mercado join several community members in planning the yearly event and have not skipped a beat shifting to a virtual event to honor the late great Roberto Clemente.  Mr. Mercado has introduced Dolan to the YOUmedia digital learning space at the Hartford Public Library, to support the creation of the virtual event.

This is one of the many examples of the benefits of getting our students out into their communities.  The pandemic has forced our seniors to rethink HOW they are going to serve their communities, but by no means has it impacted their desire to find a way to serve safely!
