Students and Staff Plant a Garden at Culinary Arts Academy at Weaver High School

Members of the Student Leadership Team and several teachers worked together today in the extreme heat to establish and plant several raised bed gardens at the Hartford Culinary Academy at Weaver High School.

The garden beds were donated by Knox Parks Foundation, the soil and compost was donated by Greencycle, and the flowers and veggies were donated by Moscarillo's Garden Shop in Torrington and a local resident working in collaboration with Hartford Food System.

The students and staff planted tomatoes, tomatillos, peppers, squash, and various leafy greens. The vegetables will be used by students to prepare healthy meals in the fall as part of the Culinary Arts program at Weaver High School.
