Students from High School, Inc. Are Finalists in The Hartford’s Entrepreneurial Challenge

The Hartford Insurance Financial Services Company in Windsor, CT welcomed students from High School, Inc., Windsor High School, and Enfield School to participate in the Junior Achievement Be Entrepreneurial Challenge.  This event was held on December 8, 2016 and was well attended.

 

Employees from The Hartford led several mini discussions around Entrepreneurship, Product Development, and Ethics before students worked in teams creating their own business plan. Business plans were judged by The Hartford’s volunteers resulting in four teams of finalists. Two of the finalist teams were from High School Inc.  Finalists included:

• First Place – Valuably Vegan and Organics, from Enfield High School

o Concept was to create a vegan/organic grocery store for a one stop shop that would not break the bank.

• Second Place – SafePass, from High School, Inc.

o Concept was to create an app for bus and train passes to allow for easy convenient use by students and all customers.

• Runner Ups –

o The HydroBox, from Enfield High School

–A shower head that would make your shower time efficient and water conscious. You can set a timer to your shower that will shut the water off once the time is up. It also has Bluetooth capabilities.

o Healthy Choices, from High School, Inc

–Healthy alternative breakfast and lunch choices in school cafeterias, clean organic eating for our youth to help improves mindset and energy.
