Credit Recovery Program

During the summer, Hartford Public Schools will provide a free, virtual Summer Credit Recovery Program to support students in grades 9 to 12 in recovering course credit they might have lost during the regular academic year, and as such, remain on track (as much as possible) with their graduation class cohort.

The Summer Credit Recovery Program will start on Monday, June 29, 2020 and end on Thursday, July 30, 2020. During the COVID-19 pandemic, our primary goal continues to be to keep our students and staff safe. As such, this year’s program will be held virtually. To support student success with distance learning, students will be expected to: 1) participate in at least two “live” sessions a week, and 2) attend office hours. A student who misses three (3) days without obtaining prior teacher approval will be dismissed from the summer credit recovery program.

Students may register to recover up to two (2) courses during the Summer Credit Recovery Program. The following core courses will be available:

  • English (English 9, English 10, Literature and Composition I, Literature and Composition II)
  • Mathematics (Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry)
  • Science (Biology, Chemistry, Integrated Science)
  • Social Studies (Civics, US History, International Studies)
  • World Languages (Spanish 1, Spanish II) and
  • Health/Wellness (Physical Education, Health).

NOTE: Students currently serving an expulsion are not eligible to enroll in the summer credit recovery program.

Students interested in participating in credit recovery must register online at https://forms.gle/1faKUZMJPxh2GZRN7 by Friday, June 12, 2020. Please note that there will be no registration deadline extensions. If you would like further information or have questions in regards to the Summer Credit Recovery Program, please feel free to contact Credit Recovery Coordinator Katelin Jacobs at HAWLK001@hartfordschools.org or your student’s school counselor.

  • Inglés (Inglés 9, Inglés 10, Literatura y Composición I, Literatura y Composición II)
  • Matemáticas (Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometría)

Summer Health Information

Don’t Delay Your Child’s Vaccines. They are more important now than ever!
The coronavirus crisis has shown us how dangerous a disease can become when there’s a widespread outbreak – and there is no vaccine. It’s a reminder to make sure your child gets the vaccines that are available.

Five Important Reasons to Vaccinate Your Child

1. Immunizations can save your child’s life.
Because of advances in medical science, your child can be protected against more diseases than ever before. Vaccines help prevent future pandemics.
2. Immunization protects others you care about.
Immunizing your child not only protects your child and your family, it also helps prevent the spread of diseases, like Measles and Whooping Cough to your friends and loved ones.
3. Vaccination is very safe and effective.
The disease-prevention benefits of getting vaccines are much greater than the possible side effects for almost all children.
4. Immunizations can save your family time and money.
A child with a vaccine-preventable disease can be denied attendance at schools or daycare facilities. Some of these diseases can result in prolonged disabilities and can take a financial toll because of lost time at work, medical bills, or long-term disability care.
5. Immunization protects future generations.
Vaccines have reduced and, in some cases, eliminated many diseases, like Smallpox, that killed or severely
disabled people just a few generations ago.

For more information on vaccinating your child please visit the CDC website: http://www.cdc.gov/vaccines
