Superintendent Hosts Panel to Discuss Equity and the Acceleration Agenda with Community Members
March 29th, 2016 — A Community Update/Media Event about the implementation of a key strategy in action in the Superintendent's Strategic Operating Plan, the Acceleration Agenda in Hartford Public Schools was attended by 110 people at the Albany Branch of the Hartford Public Library. The meeting featured a short documentary, a panel discussion and a quesiton and answer session.
Superintendent Beth Schiavino-Narvaez provided updates on the Acceleration Agenda pilot program, which is currently under development at six of our schools. There was a screening of a short documentary piece on the Acceleration Agenda, highlighting the work implemented so far at Thirman Milner Elementary School, Burns Latino Studies Academy, Alfred E. Burr Elementary, Fred D. Wish Elementary School, Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary School and John C. Clark Elementary School.
After the short documentary screening, Dr. Narvaez hosted a panel discussion with Assistant Superintendent Catherine Carbone, Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School Principal Doreen Crawford, Burns Latino Studies Teacher Mary LaFountain, MLK Parent Randy Norman, and City Connects Site Coordinator for Burr School Bobby Casiano.
