Superintendent Kishimoto and Mayor Segarra Tour the 9th Grade Classes to Introduce the Hartford Promise

Over the last few months Hartford Public Schools Superintendent Christin M. Kishimoto and Hartford Mayor Pedro Segarra have been touring the district's high schools, visiting the 9th grade calls to introduce the Hartford Promise.

The Hartford Promise– our city's new scholarship program beginning with the class of 2013 will grant up to $5,000 in college funding every year to any graduating Hartford Senior who matriculates to a 4-year college, who lives in Hartford, who maintains a 3.0 GPA and who has good attendance records. It also grants up to $2,500 per year for those who enroll in a two-year college.
 
Journalism and Media reporters covered the event and interviewed Dr, Kishimoto and Mayor Segarra.
 
9th grade classes visited so far include Bulkeley, High School, Inc. and Weaver Culinary Arts Academy.  The tour will continue through this school year and continue on into the 2013 – 2014 school year, and will include 10th grade students if they did not see the presentation this year.
