The Culinary Arts Academy at Weaver High School Places 25 Students in Internships

The Culinary Arts Academy at Weaver High School has placed 25 students in internships this spring. The six week internships are subsidized by Capital Workforce Partners, and provide culinary students with real world experience in their field. While the students are mainly working in restaurants, other types of businesses are also represented. Students work between 20 – 25 hours per week and are expected to report to their jobs on time, in uniform and learn through their job responsibilities. Students have been placed at restaurants owned by Max Restaurant Group, Café Colt, The Russell, Luna Pizza, Treva, Moe’s Southwest Grill, Robeks Juice and others. In addition, students have positions at Capital Workforce Partners, City of Hartford Common Council Office, Metropolitan District Commission (MDC) and St. Francis Hospital. Placement is now underway to fill 2100 summer internship positions throughout the area for Hartford students, a portion of who will be culinary students.
