The Village for Families and Children Facilitates Blessings in a Backpack at Clark School

The Village for Families and Children will be facilitating the Blessing in a Backpack Program. The program will be providing food for the weekend to 100 students in the Pre-K to 5th grade at Clark School for the rest of the school year. Price Chopper will be providing food and Sysco will deliver food to the school on a bi-weekly basis.

Blessing in a Backpack provides food for elementary children across America who may otherwise have little or no food to eat during the weekends during the school year.  The program provides elementary school children who are on the federal Free and Reduced Price Meal Program with a backpack of food to take home for 38 weekends during the school year. Backpack food includes easy-to-prepare, ready-to-eat foods, like granola bars, juice boxes, mac and cheese, and oatmeal.

On Thursday, February 6th they officially kicked-off the program. CBS Radio and Price Chopper were present for the Kick-off along with the school’s Vice Principal, Melissa Trantolo, and everyone helped to stuff the backpaks.
