U.S. Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman Recognizes Annie Fisher STEM Magnet School's Teacher-of-the-Year Keith Sevigny as one of “Joe’s Heroes."

U.S. Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman visited the Annie Fisher STEM Magnet
School on Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012, to recognize Science Teacher Keith
Sevigny as one of “Joe’s Heroes,” an award that the senator has been
conferring throughout his career to Connecticut individuals who
perform outstanding work on behalf of their fellow residents. Mr.
Sevigny, a native of Windsor Locks, was a cancer research scientist who
decided to change careers and become a Hartford Public School
science teacher. In 2010, he transferred to the Annie Fisher STEM
School, which U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan earlier this year
named a federal Blue Ribbon School for its progress in improving
student academic achievement. Mr. Sevigny has been a major
contributor to the school’s success. Sen. Lieberman’s visit will also
include a presentation of science projects by Mr. Sevigny’s students. As
one of “Joe’s Heroes”, Mr. Sevigny is in good company. Among the
people who have recently been recognized by Sen. Lieberman are: Curt
Welling, President & CEO of AmeriCares; Gloria McAdam, CEO and
President of Foodshare, and Rear Admiral Sandra Stosz, the first woman
to be named superintendent of a U.S. military academy.
