1.   Resolution:   Adoption  of the  2013-2014 General  Budget – $284,008,187 (Finance &
Audit Committee)

The Connecticut General Statutes (CGS 10-222)  requires  that the appropriations for the General  
Operating Funds of the School  District be approved by the Board of Education

The Hartford Board of Education adopts the FY 2013-14 General Budget in the amount of $284,008,187.
effective July 1, 2013.

2.   Resolution:   Adoption  of the  2013-2014 Recommended Special Funds Budget –
$130,562,648 (Finance & Audit Committee)

The Connecticut General Statutes (CGS 10-222)  requires  that the appropriations for the General  
Operating Funds of the School  District be approved by the Board of Education

The Hartford Board of Education adopts the FY 2013-14 Special Funds Budget in the amount of
$130,562,648, effective July 1, 2013.

NEW BUSINESS                                                         MAY 1. 2013

RESOLUTION: ADOPTION OF THE 2013-14
GENERAL BUDGET                                                    FINANCE AND AUDIT COMMITTEE

RATIONALE:

The Connecticut General Statutes (CGS 10-222)  requires  that the appropriations for the
General  Operating Funds of the School District be approved by the Board of Education.

RESOLVED, that this resolution shall be the general  appropriations of the Hartford Public Schools  
for the 2013-14 fiscal year. A resolution to make appropriations; and  to provide for the
expenditure of the appropriations; and  to provide for the disposition of all income received  by
the Hartford Public Schools.

WHEREAS, the total revenues estimated to be available for appropriations in the General
Fund of the Hartford  Public Schools for the fiscal year 2013-14 is as follows:

REVENUE
State Aid (Education  Cost Sharing) Formula: $ 187,974,890
Local Tax Support:  $ 96,033,297
Total Revenue$ 284.008.187

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED. that $284,008,187  of the total available to appropriate in the
General  Fund is hereby  appropriated in the amounts and for the purposes set forth below:

EXPENDITURES
Direct Appropriation to Schools/Students: $230,133,750, or 81% of General Budget Funds
Central  Services: $ 53,874.437, or 19% of General  Budget Funds
Total Appropriated $ 284,008,187

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED. that the Chief Financial Officer is hereby authorized to make budgetary
transfers  within the line items of appropriation centers established through this budget and that
all transfers  between appropriations listed in this resolution may be made pursuant to the Board
of Education  policy adopted by the Board.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that no Board of Education  member or employee of the school district shall
expend  any funds  or obligate  the expenditure of any funds  except  pursuant to appropriations
made  by the Board of Education  and in keeping  with the budgetary policy adopted by the Board.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Superintendent of Schools is hereby  charged with general
supervision of the execution of the budget  adopted by the Board and shall hold administrators,
supervisors, department heads, and teachers responsible for performance of their responsibilities
within the amounts appropriate by the Board of Education and in keeping  with the budgetary policy
adopted by the Board.

RECOMMENDATION

That the  Board of Education adopts  the FY 2013-14 General  Budget in the amount of
$284,008.187, effective July 1, 2013.
