Update from the Superintendent

Dear Families,

I hope you all had a safe and productive week. In keeping with our promise to regularly provide the community with information that guides our decisions about health and safety and our learning models, I’m writing with a few important updates.

<UPDATED> COVID-19 Cases, Positivity Rates, and Quarantines

Our district continues in the Orange status, with in-person students attending on a hybrid schedule. We continue to closely monitor health conditions in the City of Hartford and the County, and consult local and state health and education officials to guide our decision-making.

Below are the district’s current COVID positivity and quarantine data. A dashboard displaying confirmed cases by school across the district is updated daily and can be viewed on the district website.

<REMINDER> Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday

Monday, January 18, is Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day and all students and staff are off in honor of the holiday. I encourage you to spend time this holiday with your student and family reflecting on Dr. King’s life and the meaning of service and community. Please read my full message here.

<REMINDER> Inauguration Day is on a Remote-learning day

Wednesday, January 20 is Inauguration Day in Washington D.C. As a reminder, Wednesday is a scheduled remote-learning day for all students and our buildings are closed. Our City, State, and Federal government officials are working hard to ensure our state capital and our community remain safe from any threats.

<NEW> Hartford Remote Learning Hubs

The Remote Learning Hubs will provide further support to our families so they  can meet the challenge of balancing work and keeping their children engaged in remote learning. Partnerships made this opportunity possible for our students and families. To learn more, read about the Learning Hubs on our website. To register, residents can visit www.HartfordCT.gov/learninghubs or call the Department of Families, Children, Youth and Recreation at 860-757-9595 during business hours.

<NEW> Town Hall for Families: Learning Together About COVID-19 Vaccination

On Thursday, January 28 I will host a Town Hall for families to learn more about COVID-19 Vaccination. I will be joined by special guest presenters Tekisha Everette, PhD from Health Equity Solutions and Dr. Reginald Eadie from Trinity Healthcare. Please join us! Espero que todos(as) hayan tenido una semana segura y productiva. Cumpliendo con nuestra promesa de proveer regularmente a la comunidad información que guía nuestra toma de decisiones sobre salud y seguridad y nuestros modelos de aprendizaje, les escribo con algunas novedades importantes.

<ACTUALIZADO> Casos de COVID-19 Cases, tasas de positividad y cuarentenas

Nuestro distrito continúa en el estado Anaranjado, con estudiantes presenciales asistiendo en un horario híbrido. Continuamos monitoreando cercanamente las condiciones de salud en la Ciudad de Hartford y el Condado, y consultando a oficiales de salud y educación locales y estatales para guiar nuestra toma de decisiones.

A continuación se encuentran los datos de positividad de COVID y cuarentena del distrito. Se actualiza diariamente y se puede observar una pantalla que muestra los casos confirmados por escuela en todo el distrito en el sitio web del distrito.

<RECORDATORIO> Día Festivo del Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

El lunes, 18 de enero es el día festivo del Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. y todos(as) los(as) estudiantes y el personal están libres en honor al día festivo. <RECORDATORIO> El Día de la Inauguración es en un dia de aprendizaje remoto

El miércoles, 20 de enero es el Día de la Inauguración en Washington D.C. A modo de recordatorio, el miércoles es un día de aprendizaje remoto para todos(as) los(as) estudiantes y nuestros edificios estarán cerrados. Nuestros funcionarios de gobierno municipal, estatal y federal están trabajando arduamente para asegurar que nuestra capital estatal y nuestra comunidad permanezcan seguras de cualquier amenaza.

<NUEVO> Centro de Aprendizaje Remoto de Hartford

Los Centros de Aprendizaje Remoto brindarán apoyo adicional a nuestras familias para que puedan enfrentar el desafío de equilibrar trabajo con mantener a sus hijos(as) participando de aprendizaje remoto. Las asociaciones hicieron posible esta oportunidad para nuestros(as) estudiantes y familias. Para aprender más, lea sobre los Centros de Aprendizaje en nuestro sitio web.
