Updated Graduation Requirements
This summer, our Board of Education approved new graduation requirements in alignment with a revision to a Connecticut state statute. Hartford Public Schools is dedicated to ensuring all students have equitable access to high-quality post-secondary opportunities that will prepare them for the dynamic world of work and life beyond high school. It is our mission to inspire all students to create their own path towards success in and beyond school.
The graduation requirement revisions were done to meet a change in state law requiring 25 credits to graduate from high school for the class of 2023. High School seniors’ schedules have been designed to ensure their course enrollments meet the new requirements. These revisions should not have an impact on fall 2022 schedules.
The new requirements allow for more course flexibility and create a more equitable environment for all students to succeed. Students will now have greater access to advanced coursework and additional college and career opportunities. The policy includes special recognition of scholars who earn additional high school credits in alignment with their high school theme.
Please contact your school counselor with any questions.
We thank our families for providing the feedback that guided these policy revisions.
