Weaver High School Hosts Lecture Series at Student Success Center

 

Timothy Goodwin of Weaver High School announces a lecture series in the Student Success Center at Weaver High School over the next few weeks featuring:

Kevin Booker, Assistant Director of Admissions at Three Rivers Community College (Norwich) spoke on Friday, March 22 at 1:15. Kevin is a Hartford Public Schools grad who grew up in the North End facing various obstacles. He has earned advanced degrees and taught in Hartford schools and at the college level.

Kevin (pictured above) spoke on Friday of last week (picture attached) and fully engaged the students with his stories of growing up in the North End of Hartford and his refusal to accept a trade school future outlined for him by a guidance counselor and other grown ups. Instead he focused on attending college against the odds, and now holds four degrees as he navigates a successful teaching, counseling, and administrative professional career!

Corey Brinson, Attorney at Law Office of Corey J. Brinson, LLC (Hartford) spoke on Tuesday, March 26 at 1:30. Corey is a Hartford Public Schools grad who attended UConn and UConn Law. He has served on the Hartford City Council and now has a successful legal practice.

Rosalyn Durant, Vice President, College Sports Programming at ESPN (Bristol) on Friday, April 19 at 11:00. Rosalyn graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor's Degree in Broadcast Journalism. She helped grow the ESPNU channel and became the youngest African American VP at ESPN.
