Welcome Brandi Lumpris

Please welcome Brandi Lumpris to the Office of Academics. Brandi is our new S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics), TiR (Teacher- In- Residence), with a focus on Mathematics.

Brandi started her career in Hartford Schools in 2002 as a 5th grade teacher at Annie Fisher School. In 2003, she joined the Milner School community as a 5th grade teacher, and continued as a Math Coach and Core Knowledge Coach.  With a strong desire to concentrate on Mathematics, Brandi became certified to teach Thinking Math I and II through the American Federation of Teachers. She has a strong passion for education and developing strong connections with students and families.

Brandi didn’t intend on a career in education. She enrolled in University of Rhode Island’s Physical Therapy program. After a few summers of working at Camp Courant, she knew she wanted to positively influence the lives of the students in Hartford through education. Brandi continued to develop her focus on education while completing her Master’s in Education at Temple University with a concentration on Urban Education.  She recently completed the Leadership Program at Sacred Heart University in June.

Brandi enjoys reading, writing, and being outdoors. She devotes time to make memories with her husband and three sons fishing, kayaking, jumping on the trampoline and relaxing outside by the Koi pond.

In her Central Office role, Brandi will provide support to teachers and schools, in the area of mathematics, specifically focused on elementary math and the alignment of curricula to the Common Core.
