Welcome Ralph Minaya, the Office of Academic’s New STEM Teacher in Residence.
Please welcome Mr. Ralph Minaya to the Office of Academics. Ralph is our new S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics), TiR (Teacher- In- Residence), for Technology. Ralph has been teaching engineering and mathematics at the high school and college levels for the last several years. He has taught mathematics at Bulkeley High School and more recently, he taught “Principles of Engineering in Digital Electronics” at Engineering & Green Technology. Teaching is a second career for Ralph, who began working as an Industrial Engineer, with a focus in operations management, team facilitation, continuous process improvement and facility design.
One of Ralph’s passions is to add value to educational processes including instruction, in order to ensure that his students graduate from high school, prepared for S.T.E.M. – related careers in college. A native of the Dominican Republic, one of Ralph’s favorite past times is to read about what’s new in technology on Saturday morning when everyone is sleeping at home. Traveling is another thing that Ralph enjoys. His favorite destination is the Dominican Republic, but he continues to dream of traveling to Europe in the near future.
Spending time at home with his family is a must. Ralph also enjoys singing and dancing with his 3 year old daughter on Friday nights to songs like Shakira’s “Waka Waka”, Ralph and his wife are also the proud parents of an older daughter and a teenage son. Ralph states that, “Having a conversation at night with my wife at the kitchen table: priceless.”
In his Central Office role, Ralph will provide support to teachers and schools, in the area of implementing technology into classroom instruction.
