She then obtained her Master's degree in early childhood education from Southern Connecticut State University. Mrs. Brodeur loves teaching PreK and turning breakdowns into breakthroughs!

My name is Maria Candelario, and I am from the Dominican Republic. I am proud to be a Breakthrough Magnet School Pre-K teacher. I received a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from Charter Oak State College, and this will be my third year at Breakthrough after eight years at Pequeñin Multicultural Academy here in Hartford.

I have a true passion for working with our youngest learners!! Helping each child progress in all areas of their development—academic, social, language, and motor—is a challenge that I am honored to accept daily. I strive to create a community of learners that nurtures this growth in a positive, fun environment

Hi, My name is Karen Facey and I am a Pre-K teacher at Breakthrough Magnet North. I graduated Cum Laude with an Associate in Science Degree in Early Childhood Education from Capital College and a Bachelor’s of Science Degree with Honors with a Concentration in Child Studies, from Charter Oak State College.

I have worked at several daycares throughout the years, including working at Capitol Region Education Council (CREC) for 6 years, in which all has been instrumental in setting a solid foundation for me. I am committed to the nurturing and development of the whole child, through the areas of Social, Physical, Intellectual, Creative, and Emotional development (SPICE).

This is my 2nd year working at Breakthrough Magnet North as a B.R.I.C.K and the expectations are: to help turn Breakdowns into Breakthroughs, to be Responsible, to show Integrity, to Contribute positively and to utilize and implement the wealth of Knowledge that has been bestowed upon me to the best of my ability.

I am proud to be a BRICK!

As a young child, Mrs. Reid's father modeled being a dedicated and caring teacher. She was fortunate to have followed in his footsteps and works at showing love and compassion to her students and establishing relationships with their families. Mrs. Reid attended school at Central Connecticut State University where she obtained her bachelor's in psychology, then received her CT 112 Birth to Five Certification (Early Childhood Education) from Charter Oak State College and master's degree in Reading and Language from Central Connecticut State University. She began teaching as a Pre-K teacher at Breakthrough-North in 2012.

Hello! My name is Richelle Villabona-Espada. I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood and Master of Science in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages at Southern Connecticut State University. I have taught preschool for two years in a different district and this is my first year at Breakthrough Magnet School North. I love being a part of the Breakthrough North community and being a BRICK inside and outside of school. I am a BRICK because I love creating opportunities for students to contribute within the classroom, school, and community

I attended Goodwin University where I obtained an Associate’s Degree in General Education. I received a head teacher certificate from the State of CT, Office of Early Childhood in 2010.

I started my career with Breakthrough North in August of 2015 as part of the I-goals team, and I am currently now a part of the wonderful Pre-K team.

My name is Yolanda Garcia, I am from Puerto Rico. I graduated from the American University of Puerto Rico in 1986. In 1996 I was hired to work as a Paraprofessional special education part-time. A year after 1997, he was part of the HBO team at Burns Latino Academy. I am promoted to work for the Preschool Work program I do for 17 years at Burns Latino Academy. In 2002 I started my course as a CDA on the Connecticut Chart of course. 2006 continue individual CDA courses at Capital College. In 2015 I have been part of the Breakthrough North Magnet School family in the pre-school program so far. My passion is working in children’s education.
