Great Path Academy is proud to announce we are the recipient of the CT Grown for Kids Grant program from the Connecticut Department of Agriculture (DoAg) for $35,495 to focus on “Using Experiential Learning, On-Campus Production, and Local Procurement, the program connects students to local farms to teach the food system from cultivation to consumption.” We are deeply appreciative to Ms. Hood for directing and leading work to expand our culinary and bake shop curriculum.
At Great Path Academy, we are developing a comprehensive Farm to School program to transform our Culinary and Bake Shop curriculum. Our vision is to provide students with a deep understanding of our food system, from cultivation to consumption, by connecting our classroom with local farms and innovative agricultural practices. This project, which aligns with the Connecticut Grown for Connecticut Kids Grant's goals, is built on three core pillars: Experiential Learning, On-Campus Production, and Local Procurement.
The Connecticut Department of Agriculture (DoAg) is proud to announce an $837,900 investment through the CT Grown for CT Kids Grant program, which will support 21 innovative projects across the state. These initiatives are expected to positively impact more than 58,500 children by increasing access to fresh, locally grown foods and enhancing farm-to-school connections.
Through this latest round of funding, the CT Grown for CT Kids Grant program continues to strengthen Connecticut’s local food system by fostering partnerships between schools, early childhood education centers, farmers, and community organizations. The 21 selected projects span urban, suburban, and rural communities, and include efforts such as school gardens, nutrition education, farm field trips, and procurement of CT Grown farm products for school meals.
“This investment reflects our commitment to nourishing both the minds and bodies of Connecticut’s youth,” said Agriculture Commissioner Bryan P. Hurlburt. “By connecting children with fresh, local food and agricultural education, we’re cultivating healthier communities and a stronger local economy.”
This highly competitive grant program received 41 applications for the full grant awards with funding requesting exceeding $1.6 million. Projects were reviewed by committee and those moving forward have individual award amounts ranging from $12,323 up to $50,000.

Inclement Weather Policies
Cancellations: If either Manchester Public Schools or Hartford Public Schools close, Great Path Academy will close.
If CT State Manchester closes or delays, GPA's following is determined on a case by case basis, depending on the reason for the delay or closure and coordination with the District.
Delays and Early Dismissals: Delays and early dismissals are dependent upon your bus company.
CREC buses (This includes all students with the exception of Manchester and Glastonbury residents) Students who take a CREC bus must follow the delay/dismissal schedule of their own bus route unless school is canceled. To find out the delay for your bus route, call CREC at 860-524-4077.
Manchester/Glastonbury Residents: Students who take Manchester or Glastonbury buses must follow their respective towns' delay/dismissal schedule. Please see the news broadcast for those delays and dismissals.
Early dismissals are determined on a case by case by each district, coordinated with HPS/RSCO transportation services.
The GPA building will open at 9:00 am on delay days and students who arrive early will wait in the internet cafe until classes begin. Classes will begin according to the Hartford Public Schools delay schedule and the delay schedule will be shared out on ParentSquare.
Parents/Guardians always have the option to bring their students to school on delay days as well.
If schools are delayed, closed or dismissed early, there are a variety of ways we notify families, including:
Automated phone call, email and text message
ParentSquare Communication
Snow Line 860-695-SNOW (860-695-7669)
Major Media Outlets (Local TV & Radio Stations)
District & School Website
*Note- Loss of instructional days due to closures will need to be made up in accordance with state and district policy. Remote learning days will not be implemented this year,

Hello! My name is Alexandra Dziura, and I am thrilled to be working as a social work intern here at Great Path. I am currently earning my Master of Social Work Degree at the University of Connecticut. I earned my bachelor's in psychology at Eastern Connecticut State University, but also earned some of my undergraduate credits at Manchester Community College! I have been gaining social work experience through my case management role at a shelter for families experiencing homelessness for over two years.
Outside of school, I enjoy taking my dogs for long hikes, cooking, baking bread, and doing pottery (when I have the time!) I also love traveling and gaining new experiences, especially culinarily. I am very grateful for the opportunity to work with the wonderful students of Great Path, and am looking forward to this school year!
