Our 2026-27 Grade 2 Guaranteed & Shared Experience to Roaring Brook Nature Center was funded by The Children’s Museum, in partnership with Hartford Public Library & Hartford Performs. Very special thanks to our sponsors for supporting all our grade 2 students in their visit to Roaring Brook Nature Center in Canton this month!
We could see the excitement in our students’ eyes as they encountered animals, insects, plants and fungi while they explored the woods, streams, and natural exhibits —some of them for the very first time.
Kudos to our Department of Elementary Teaching and Learning’s literacy team for creating this great program that connects our literacy curriculum – Grade 2 Guaranteed & Shared Experience– Wit & Wisdom Module 1, A Season of Change – to real-world experiences, and giving students the opportunity to experience the words and ideas they’re learning about in their classrooms. Connections like these remind us of how powerful learning can be when it extends beyond the classroom.
