4.8.26 Budget Community Forum _Page_01

On Wednesday, April 8, HPS Superintendent & CEO Dr. Andraé Townsel and CFO Caitlin Richard were joined by families, staff, and partners for a Community Budget Forum about the Hartford Public Schools Fiscal Year 2026-2027 Budget. Hartford Public Schools expresses its deep thanks to our community members for joining us, asking questions, sharing ideas, and being deeply engaged in advocacy for public education.

It is crucial that our community clearly understands the outdated state funding and unfair funding formulas that create our deficit. Together, we can advocate for our students and schools.

Thank you to our Strategic Partnerships team for their management of this important event; providing dinner, childcare, and especially language interpretation for our families.

We're hoping you can join us to help communicate the “urgency of now” for Hartford Public Schools, our students and their families. There are several actions you can take to help. You can testify at the Board of Education’s budget hearing on April 21, at the City’s budget public hearing on April 28, and/or email or call your state representative, city council members.

We thank you for completing a “Raise your hand!” postcard at your school! Postcards will be collected during Spring Recess for delivery to Gov. Lamont and the Legislature.
