All students participating in interscholastic athletics (grades 6-12) must adhere to the Hartford Public Schools athletic eligibility requirements.

 Student-Athletes must take at least four (4) Classes that count toward graduation and only courses that qualify as credits towards graduation will be considered in determining eligibility.

 Eligible (student may participate)

Student-athlete has at least a 1.7 GPA (C-) with no more than 1 failing grade while taking no more than 7 classes per semester OR no more than 2 failing grades while taking 8 or more classes per semester.

 Probation (student may participate)

Student-athlete has below a 1.7 GPA (C-) with no more than 1 failing grade while taking no more than 7 classes per semester OR no more than 2 failing grades while taking 8 or more classes per semester and at least a 1.3 (D+) GPA. Such students will be placed on academic probation for the marking period.

 Not Eligible (student may NOT participate)

●       Student-athlete received 2 or more failing grades while taking no more than 7 classes per semester OR received 3 failing grades while taking 8 or more classes per semester.

●       Student-athlete did not obtain a 1.7 GPA(C-) with no more than 1 failing grade while taking no more than 7 classes per semester OR no more than 2 failing grades while taking 8 or more classes per semester.

●        Student-athlete was on probation the previous marking period and did not meet eligibility requirements in the current marking period. A Student-athlete cannot be on probation for two consecutive marking periods

 Students’ eligibility for the beginning of the school year will be determined by the fourth marking period of the previous school year.  (must have passed 4 classes toward graduation for the school year as well per CIAC guidelines)

 Summer school grades will be factored into the fourth marking to determine eligibility in the upcoming school year.

 Coaches, students and parents are expected to monitor student progress weekly and take appropriate actions to encourage academic eligibility.
