<NEW> Join the Summer Reading Challenge and Have Lunch With Me!
Our Summer Reading Challenge is well underway with students reading more than 191,000 minutes this week! This week, students who log their reading either online or at a library branch could win a variety of prizes - including lunch with me, the Superintendent! I am excited to host several students for lunch in recognition of their commitment to literacy. Several Summer Readers joined me last year for lunch, and we had a great time sharing their favorite books and thoughts. There are several other amazing prizes that are up for grabs this week and every week. All you have to do is READ! See more information here.
Also this week, some readers were awarded an opportunity to engage in an exciting activity with Hartford Performs! Students in Grades 6 through 12 gathered at the Hartford Public Library Lyric/Park Street Branch to construct a geodome and pyramids. This hands-on, living art project designed by Hartford Performs combines geometry, engineering and teamwork. The students had so much fun building and collaborating!
<NEW> Summer Learning: Credit Recovery
I had the pleasure this week of meeting some of our high school students who are dedicated to getting back on track! I visited the Credit Recovery program at Hartford Public High School, where students are working hard in their classes. I am proud of their commitment to learning during the summer months. I know their hard work will pay off. I’m eager to see some of these students at the Summer Graduation on August 1st!

Don’t forget to visit our newly designed website at HartfordSchools.org. We have some new features that we hope will help you easily gather the information you need and learn about opportunities to engage with the Hartford Public Schools Community. Additionally, each one of our schools has received their own newly designed website, which is accessible by clicking the “School Directory” button at the top right of our homepage. Our school staff are working hard to re-design and update their websites to provide the best experience for their families before the new school year begins.

<NUEVO> ¡Únase al Desafío de lectura de verano y almuerce conmigo!
¡Nuestro desafío de lectura de verano está en marcha con estudiantes leyendo mas de 191,000 minutos esta semana! Esta semana, los estudiantes que presenten su registro de lectura, ya sea en línea o en una sede de la biblioteca, podrían ganar diferentes premios, ¡que incluyen almorzar conmigo, la Superintendente! Me emociona recibir a varios estudiantes para almorzar en reconocimiento a su compromiso con la alfabetización. El año pasado, varios lectores de verano me acompañaron a almorzar y la pasamos muy bien compartiendo sus libros favoritos y sus ideas. ¡Además esta semana algunos lectores tuvieron la oportunidad de participar en una actividad emocionante con Hartford Performs! Los estudiantes de 6.º a 12.º grado se reunieron en la sede de la Biblioteca Pública de Hartford en Lyric, en Park Street, para construir un domo geodésico y pirámides. Este proyecto práctico de arte en vivo, diseñado por Hartford Performs, combina la geometría, la ingeniería y el trabajo en equipo. ¡Los estudiantes se divirtieron mucho construyendo y colaborando!
<NUEVO> Aprendizaje de verano: recuperación de crédito
¡Esta semana tuve el placer de conocer a algunos de nuestros estudiantes de secundaria que están dedicados a ponerse al día! Visité el programa Credit Recovery (Recuperación de crédito) en la Escuela Secundaria Pública de Hartford donde los estudiantes trabajan duro en sus clases. Estoy orgullosa de su compromiso con el aprendizaje durante los meses de verano.
