Dear GPA Families,
Thursday Academy is our after school program for academic tutoring, behavioral support, and more.
Thursday Academy is an afterschool program where students will be supervised by Great Path Academy staff. Students can bring any homework assignment or group project to work on. They will have access to staff, tutors, and peer mentors to help complete work or provide additional support. They may also use this time and space to work on group projects, read, SAT Prep, make-up assignments, and complete individual work, and work on academic and behavioral skills in line with social and emotional learning principles.
We also provide students with a snack/meal provided from Hartford Public Schools to help them concentrate. This meal will be given out at 3:30pm. Students MUST inform Mrs. Sharp they are staying each week to be counted in our meal counts.
Time: 2:10pm-4:20pm each Thursday (if the program is cancelled for any given week, we will notify students and parents)
Students do NOT have to attend every week but it is open for when they need support. This is a ONE time permission slip saying they can attend any Thursday during the school year.
We expect students to behave appropriately during Thursday Academy. We reserve the right to exclude your child in the event of a serious disciplinary offense in accordance with HPS policy. Students must comply with all school rules in accordance with HPS Climate and Culture Core Values
Students must all be picked up from the school entrance by 4:20pm. Students cannot remain in the building after this time. Please ensure students have a ride home. We can also provide city bus passes for students with permission. If students are consistently picked up after the 4:20pm end time, they will be asked not to attend the program.

Great Path Academy was proudly represented at the annual Middle College National Consortium (MCNC) summer institute, held in Washington, D.C., from June 29th to July 1st, 2026. This year’s theme, "Focused on the Future, Rooted in Collaboration: How Partnerships Strengthen Learning and Belonging," set the stage for impactful professional development.
GPA faculty and staff collaborated with early and middle college educators from across the country to deepen institutional partnerships. They also engaged in immersive field work at four premier institutions: the National Museum of American History, the National Museum of African American History and Culture, the National Museum of Women in the Arts, and the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. GPA educators are leveraging these powerful experiences to design innovative, meaningful learning opportunities for our students in the upcoming school year. It was a conference full of inspiration, collaboration, and actionable ideas that will directly enrich our school community.

This resilient group truly lived out the vision of GPA, showcasing what it means to be a middle college high school. Together, they conquered over 100 college courses, earning an astounding 315+ college credit hours at CT State Manchester!

Great Path Academy is proud to announce our Class of 2026 Valedictorian and Salutatorian! Khadijah Sani is this year's Valedictorian - she will be attending UCONN in the fall to study economics. Sasha Nightingale is our Salutatorian and she will be heading to Westfield State University to study nursing. Both of these students have been exceptional GPA student ambassadors for many years and dedicated to their academics and school community! Congratulations Khadijah and Sasha!
