RUSH Tour at Rawson

I am humbled and excited to continue our dynamic work together this new academic year, helping to guide students, teachers, and all Hartford Public Schools’ programs in continued improvement. Ultimately, we’re raising the bar for our young people through education and community engagement.

Thank you for your continued partnership, as we work together to become champions of excellence for your child’s future. Please see some very important updates below:

<NEW> Hartford Public Schools Earns $476,200 from the Nellie Mae Education Foundation

Hartford Public Schools and The Village for Families & Children have been awarded $476,200 from the Nellie Mae Education Foundation. The funding supports the district’s community-rooted work to expand access to quality public education. We are leaving no stone unturned to secure the support our young people deserve!

Together, HPS and The Village for Families & Children will establish the Hartford Student Success Consortium, creating shared governance among institutional leaders, implementation teams, students, and families. The Nellie Mae Education Foundation’s support will focus on formalizing partnerships, conducting an equity and systems audit, redesigning referral and family-navigation systems, expanding restorative practices, developing shared data tools, and embedding successful approaches in district policy and financing.

Thank you to the Nellie Mae Education Foundation for this generous grant and for investing in our community’s vision for quality public education. Our students have unlimited potential. Our responsibility is to keep opening doors, building partnerships, and pursuing every opportunity to help them succeed. We’re grateful for this investment, and determined to keep raising the bar. Our children are worth every effort!

<NEW> Honoring All Who Served on Veterans Day

Veterans Day is a holiday for our students and schools, and an opportunity to honor the brave individuals who served in our Armed Forces. This Veterans Day, we honor and hold space for our Veterans, their families and loved ones. We encourage you to take a moment to thank a veteran for their service and extend your support to all our veterans; those in our families, and in our community.

In the armed forces, veterans learn to put the safety and well-being of their colleagues, of the team, before their own safety and well being. Veterans exemplify the support and care for others that makes communities stronger. This is a good lesson for all of us as we work together to care for, protect, and serve our students and their families.

On our website, here, you will find just a few of our colleagues whose service we honor today. Veterans, we thank you for your service.

<NEW> Receiving the 2026 Legacy Foundation of Hartford Champion of Education Award

The Legacy Foundation of Hartford addresses disparities in health and education by providing substantial academic and experiential learning opportunities to our region’s most underrepresented students. I am deeply honored and grateful to be named the Legacy Foundation of Hartford’s 2026 Champion of Education, to be celebrated tomorrow, November 7. Serving the students and families of Hartford Public Schools is a privilege I carry with purpose every day. Thank you to Chairman Greg Jones and the Legacy Foundation for this meaningful recognition. I share this honor with our educators, staff, families, and community partners who keep showing up for our children.

Academic Calendar for 2026-2027
