Our primary goal is to provide safe and efficient transportation for Hartford Public School students and families.

  • Monitor the excellent performance of our transportation providers

  • Provide timely and courteous responses to families and schools

  • Supporting all transportation needs, including out-of-district special needs

  • Manage the compliance of our vendors to provide qualified bus drivers

  • Manage the compliance of our vendors to provide equipment that meets state and federal guidelines

Transportation Services are provided by:

  • AUTUMN TRANSPORTATION: for district/neighborhood schools and in-city magnet schools

  • AUTUMN/AMBASSADOR TRANSPORTATION: for Special Needs students

  • CREC: (860) 524-4077; for magnet suburban transportation

Transportation Guidelines

Note that students may not be eligible to receive transportation throughout all grades that they are in schools as eligibility changes as they progress in grades (see guidelines below).

General Transportation Guidelines:

  • GRADES K-1: Student lives 0.5 miles or more from enrolled school

  • GRADES 2-5: Student lives 1.0 miles or more from enrolled school

  • GRADES 6-8: Student lives 1.5 miles or more from enrolled school

  • GRADES 9-12: Student lives 2.0 miles or more from enrolled school

Other Guidelines:

  • Transportation is NOT provided to schools outside of the student’s Zone of residency

  • Transportation is NOT provided to Preschool aged students attending Hartford Public Schools

  • Students placed out of Zone due to space will be provided with transportation for one year

  • Families in Transition may receive transportation regardless of school or resident Zone

  • Achievement First, located in Zone 1 provides transportation for students from Zone 1 & 2

  • Global Communications Academy, located in Zone 1 provides transportation to all 4 Zones
