Food Drive Dress down on Friday (for PK - 5th)
This Friday is our Winter Ball in the Gym, and we are collecting cans and non-perishable food items for all to attend. In order to increase our donation to Hands on Hartford, we are also collecting non-perishable food items in order to dress down this Friday. Our goal is to beat our donation from thanksgiving which was 571 pounds of food.

PTO Winter Ball is this Fri, Jan. 24 from 4:30-6 pm for students in PK - 5th! It is not too late to RSVP to Mrs. Gomez (Gardner). PK - Gr. 1 need to have a parent chaperone with them to attend. Gr. 2-5 parent chaperone is optional - let your child's teacher know if you are giving your child permission to stay after school to attend the ball. Pickup time is 6 pm. Thanks!

Parent/Teacher Conferences are coming up soon! Tues, Feb. 4 from 5-7 pm and Wed, Feb. 5 from 1-4 pm. Teachers have already been reaching out to families via Parent Square to schedule them. If you haven't heard from your child's teacher yet, please reach out to them. As a reminder, Gr 6-8 student-led conferences are scheduled by their crew teachers.

Lots happening this week! Gr. 4/5 are headed to a week long field trip at STARBASE during the day. Elementary Dance Club, Mini Cheer & Girl Scouts all start this week after school, as well as 2-4-1 TOP Self winter session before school starts up as well. Our basketball teams have two home games this week - Mon 1/13 vs. Burr (boys first) and Wed 1/15 vs. ESM (girls first). Also our monthly PTO Coffee & Connect is Fri, 1/17 at 8:45 am in the cafe (all are welcome to attend)!

This a a friendly reminder that tomorrow, Fri, Dec. 20, is a 12:30 pm Early Release and there is no OPMAD aftercare so all students need to get picked up by 1 pm. This originally was scheduled as a full day and then the HPS Superintendent sent a message right before Thanksgiving that it was being changed to a half-day. This will also be a FREE dress down day for students & staff!

Our first home basketball games are Wed, Dec 18 vs. McDonough! Girls game is at 4:30 pm and boys game is at 5:45 pm. All student spectators must to accompanied by an adult/parent. Due to the small size of our gym, we will be only allowing fans for the girls game in the gym from 4:30-5:30 pm, and then will have those fans exit so that the fans for the boys came can enter for the 5:45 pm game. Enter and exit from the gym will be through the green gym doors.

For future reference, any time we have a 2-hour delay due to weather, 2-4-1 TOP Self and Elementary Student Council with Mrs. Tye will be cancelled (we need to allow for staff to get safely into school as well). Thanks!

Reminder: Wed, Dec. 11 is our Winter Concert from 9-10 am - all families are invited. We will take a video of the performance and share out on Parent Square for those that can't attend (not live stream). It is also a 12:30 pm Early dismissal day for staff PD so make sure to communicate any changes in dismissal to your child's teacher. Finally, for Winter Spirit Week - the theme is "Dress to Impress" for the concert. Thanks!

Winter Spirit Week: All money donated goes to CCMC cancer research! Students can pay cash to their homeroom teachers or donate online: https://give.connecticutchildrens.org/fundraiser/5945647 Participation is optional - students wear uniforms if choosing not to participate. Last year our goal was $500 and we raised over $600! This year our goal is $700!

So excited for our Fall Book Fair, which is this week Dec. 2-6 in the library! Families can shop from 8:30-9:30 am and 3:30-4:30 pm, but there is also online shopping as well.
